The Greenfield Township Volunteer Fire Company is always looking for volunteers to help sustain our workforce. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and in good physical condition.
This program trains volunteers to become firefighters and EMS certified. Learn how to operate a fire engine, tanker, ambulance and rescue apparatus.
Did you know that 72% of firefighters in this country are volunteers? A survey taken (through 2005) by The National Fire Protection Association, reported that there were 1,136,650 firefighters in the United States, where 823,350 were volunteers.
Our communities depend on volunteer firefighters who, in most cases, are first to respond. Every day, our volunteer firefighters respond to structure fires, emergency medical incidents, motor vehicle accidents, natural disasters, hazardous materials emergencies, and public calls.
Our volunteer firefighters spend an enormous amount of time training and preparing to help their community.
Take pride in your community. Be part of something special.
The Cadet Program is specifically designed for high school students, ages 14 to 18. This program teaches students the fundamentals of firefighting and emergency medical services.
The program focuses on students who have a desire to learn about firefighting, who are passionate about their community, love helping others and enjoy working with people. Students learn a variety of essential life skills and disciplines that build character and strong values that carry them throughout life.
Cadets will have opportunities to help with fundraising efforts and events. There's no better way to learn about your community and your neighbors.
Cadets receive firefighter training, First Aid and CPR certifications.
Cadets who are at least 16 years of age can receive Emergency Medical Technician training and become certified to respond to ambulance service calls.
There are opportunities to attend field trips to various fire and emergency service trade shows and expos, museums and other educational activities.
Mentors and advisers are also available or assigned to cadets.
