June 28, 2011 Helicopter Training

On June 28, the Greenfield Township Volunteer Fire Company conducted a training class on helicopter landing zones (LZ). Firefighters and cadets were trained on how to set up and identify the dangers of the LZ. After the class, Engine 24 and Ambulance 24-9 went to a designated area on Shust Road and brought Life Flight 3 in for a landing. Once on the ground, Life Flight 3 personnel went over all the equipment, patient loading and unloading, and what to do in case of an emergency. The landing went so well at the designated area, it is now recognized as a designated landing zone for Life Flight. The Life Flight helicopter is a critical piece of emergency equipment when it comes to saving a life when time is all you have.
